Fiber address check

How to check fiber internet availability at an address

Search the complete address on the FCC National Broadband Map, filter the fixed-broadband results for fiber to the premises, and then confirm the address with the named provider. A fiber network near the property does not prove that fiber reaches the home or apartment unit.

Filter the address result for fiber

Use the location point for the complete address rather than a city or ZIP result.

  1. Open the fixed-broadband view on the FCC map.
  2. Enter the complete address and select the correct location.
  3. Filter or review the result for fiber to the premises.
  4. Open the provider's official address checker.
  5. Confirm that fiber—not another technology—is orderable before paying.

Fiber nearby is not the same as fiber at home

A provider can have fiber in a neighborhood, use fiber deeper in a cable network, or reach a multifamily building without extending fiber to every unit. Ask whether the final connection to the residence is fiber, coaxial cable, copper, or fixed wireless.

Apartments and new construction need extra verification

Building wiring, shared telecommunications rooms, access approval, and a newly assigned address can change the answer. Ask management or the builder which networks physically enter the property, then request a provider serviceability review when address tools disagree.

Confirm the installation before ordering

Ask whether a technician, optical network terminal, new cable path, exterior equipment, or property approval is needed. Renters and HOA residents should obtain any required authorization before physical changes.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I check fiber availability by ZIP code?

A ZIP can suggest providers, but it cannot confirm fiber for a residence. Search the complete address and unit, then verify with the provider.

Does a provider's fiber advertisement mean my address has fiber?

No. Marketing can describe a broader market. Confirm the technology that is actually orderable at the complete address.

Why is fiber shown at my building but not my unit?

The network may reach the property without reaching every unit, or the provider and building records may disagree. Ask management and the provider for a unit-level serviceability review.
