Address changes

How to change your address after moving

Submit mail forwarding through the official USPS Movers Guide, then update important organizations directly. Forwarding does not replace changing the address on financial, government, insurance, and service accounts.

Start with official mail forwarding

Use the USPS website directly and verify that the domain is USPS-operated before entering personal information.

  1. Choose the correct individual, family, or business move type.
  2. Use the date mail should begin forwarding.
  3. Keep the confirmation information privately.

Update important records directly

Notify financial institutions, insurers, employers, licensing agencies, subscriptions, and other organizations according to their official processes. Some government records have separate deadlines.

Protect against impersonation

Avoid advertisements that resemble official government forms. Do not send personal or payment information through an unverified moving-service link.
